HBO’s hit George R.R. Martin-based series “Game of Thrones” will come to a finality, which means fans will be left reeling. But avid supporters aren’t the only ones crying after the show, but also the actors as well who spent approximately eight years on the set in shooting the scenes we all come to love.
Apart from the fact that the thespians will miss their co-stars, what they would probably shed tears for are their salaries, which, according to reports, vary from one actor to another.
When it comes to the cast, Sophie Turner, who played Sansa Stark, daughter of Eddard and Catelyn Stark, is one of those who shone brightest. The series started in 2011, and at the time, she was making more money than all of us who are stuck with babysitting for additional allowance.
The stunner practically grew in front of the camera and the same can be said of her character, who learned how to deal with hardships of her life. So, at 23 and with a reported net worth of $6 million, how did she manage to get this?
‘Game of Thrones’ Salary
Everyone knows that “Game of Thrones” catapulted the British actress to stardom and has opened doors for bigger opportunities. According to reports, Sophie earned $175,000 per episode of the successful show, but although that sounded too much for most of us, it is way below what her costars are earning – Kit Harrington, who starred as protagonist Jon Snow, apparently raked in $500,000 per episode, as well as Lena Headey, who portrayed Cersei Lannister, who also received half a million dollars per installment, raises the two actors obtained before the final season.
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who was Jaime Lannister in the show, was reported to be earning more than that, as the 48-year-old’s legal battle with an ex-manager showed he was actually getting $1.07 million per episode in the final season, which also is likely for the other four main characters.
The amount ballooned as compared to his salary before the big raise, which was reportedly $300,000 – the same amount Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen), Kit, and Lena also got.
Still, with $250,000, Sophie is not earning enough as “Westworld” cast members like Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, Ed Harris, and Jeffrey Wright who allegedly received $300,000 episode. But the newly married star understands how things go and said she knows why she didn’t earn as much as, say, Kit. She said it was because he has a bigger storyline than her character.
‘X-Men’ Films
By the doors that opened mentioned, it was the “X-Men” films that we were talking about. Sophie played Jean Grey in “X-Men: Apocalypse” and now, a starring role in “Dark Phoenix.” She and her costars remained tight-lipped about how much they earned from the films but the 2019 movie reportedly has a $200-million budget.
Presumably Lucrative Endorsements
Sophie is the face of luxury brand Louis Vuitton, which meant she wears their clothes and does commercials for them. It’s unclear how much she makes out of this but because it is the French fashion house, you’d expect her earning a lot.
